HSIE Science & Technology Art
An Aboriginal perspective can be presented within the context of most HSIE, Art and Science and Technology excursions.

Examine the suitability of different habitats within  Awabakal Nature Reserve as to their suitability as a campsite.

Build a bark shelter in miniature, similar to that which the Awabakal tribe would have constructed.

 

 


Visit, observe interactions between rainforest elements and typical locations of animals/plants, in coastal rainforests.

Use geographic terminology and tools to measure humidity, light, wind and other factors in and out of a rainforest.

Observe the results of human impact on rainforests and develop a responsible personal point of view on environmental issues.

 

Get a Hunter Valley perspective on our Ancient Land, geology, history and Aboriginal use.

Investigate how species of plants and animals are suited to their environments.

Excursion within these topics can address:
- A Change for the Better
- Environment Matters
- An Ancient Land

 


Sketching, water colour painting, printmaking, environmental collage, illustration of local Aboriginal legends.

Art days are offered from time to time to cater for local gifted and talented students.

Art excursions need to be negotiated with the Centre.
